I was parked at Aldi's, a German-owned grocery store that you pay a quarter to rent their cart. I was starting the process of unbuckling my three young kids in the cold windy when I was startled by a man behind me. He was older, his looked about as run down as the car drove. He kindly offered me his cart, as he had just loaded his groceries. This small gesture helped take away one step in what can be a hectic errand. Plus it meant he wouldn't get his quarter back. My heart was warmed and I was thankful. :)

I recently heard in a podcast about families who give their children each a gift card, go to a Walmart or other store, and challenge their kids to ask God to help them find someone at the store who needs that money. They said they've had people break down in tears upon receiving the money. :)

I was at the checkout line with a curious toddler walking, a cranky toddler in the cart, and my hungry newborn on my chest crying. A sweet old lady behind me saw the chaos and kindly offered to hold my baby and feed him the bottle I was getting out. I let her. My baby was calm, and my heart was touched. :)
