Lessons on Liberty: Self-Government

Updated: Apr 14, 2023

“No experiment can be more interesting than that we are now trying, and which we trust will end in establishing the fact, that man may be governed by reason and truth.”

Thomas Jefferson

1804

Letter to John Tyler

Man has both the ability to reason and the capacity to understand truth. Political rhetoric that appeals to neither are harmful to a free society.

Constructive political discourse should be based on reason not rage, facts not fear, evidence not emotion, and honesty not hyperbole.

As a self-governing people, we should demand such from our government leaders - and ourselves.

I'm Ajalon; mother of three, army wife, avid traveler and horrible crafter who is tired of all the negativity! So I write about politics, culture, faith and family in a way that leaves you edified, educated and empowered. (Yes...even about politics.)
