Family First Fact #9

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

Fact: Girls who have a positive and strong relationship with their fathers grow up to be healthier and more successful.

  • Women whose fathers were actively engaged in their academics in childhood and encouraged self-reliance are more likely to graduate college.

  • Less likely to become sexually active in teen years and get pregnant as a teenager.

  • Deal better with stress as adults.

Why It Matters: As of 2014, 1 in 4 kids were living in a home without a dad. And about 6 in 10 dads say they spend too little time with their kids.
